Marriage Course Online

We will run the course again in the future, either in-person or online. Read on below, or register your interest here:

Course information

The Marriage Course is a seven-session course for any married or long-term cohabiting couple, whether your marriage is strong or struggling. The seven sessions are:

  • Strengthening connection

  • The art of communication

  • Resolving conflict

  • The power of forgiveness

  • The impact of family

  • Good sex

  • Love in action

The teaching

The Marriage Course is designed by Relationship Central, a Christian ministry connected with Alpha. The course presenters are married couple Nicky and Sila Lee, who deliver the teaching via video. As well as input from Nicky and Sila, the video includes short personal stories from married couples around the world.

How does it work?

The course includes video content as well as individual workbooks.

We watch the videos together on course nights (if running online, we provide the links), and there are breaks within the evening to have private discussions as a couple.

Each week there will be ‘homework’ - we suggest couples set aside at least one hour per week for this.

Cost

Online course: $50 per couple (whole course). Payment instructions provided once registered.

Q&A

Will there be group discussion?

The course does NOT include group discussion or sharing any personal information with the other couples participating.

Is this marriage counselling?

This course is not 'marriage counselling', but rather an opportunity to have guided conversations as a couple. If you are facing issues in your marriage that require more in-depth attention, we can provide you with details of professional counsellors.

Is this a Christian course?

The Marriage Course is designed and run by Christians, however we think it could still be helpful for anyone regardless of their faith. While there are references to the Bible and to Christian themes such as prayer, the course allows you to interpret the workbook exercises in a way that makes sense to you as a couple.

Does this course cover parenting skills?

No, there are separate courses for parenting and a pre-marriage course too. For further details on other courses available through Relationships Central in Australia, visit their Australian website.

How is the course delivered online?

In 2020 we ran this course using Zoom. All couples joined the Zoom meeting on the given day/time, said hello to each other and the facilitator gave a brief introduction, then the course appeared on the screen we all muted/turned off cameras and watched the course as couples. If running the course online again we may vary the format.

What if I’m not confident using Zoom?

When you register we’ll provide further instructions and we can arrange a trial run with you if required. We want to do whatever we can to help you access this course!
