Christmas: Brokenness and Hope

midnight clear.png

This year many of us are approaching Christmas with a limp. Some bent by a year of particular heaviness; others burdened by uncertainties that have thrown long-awaited Christmas reunions into disarray. For some the year has been fine, almost novel, but even they have felt that sting of brokenness when empathising with a world in pain.

In Jesus we find a promise; not that we would avoid trouble, but that He would overcome it (John 16:33). This is what we celebrate at Christmas: a Saviour who enters into our world and our pain. We celebrate not in denial of the world’s brokenness but for the fact that even within such brokenness, we have hope!
