FAQ

Do you have to be a Christian to be part of Redhill?

No.

Redhill is a Christian church, in that it’s run by Christians (which means “Jesus followers”) and our purpose and focus is all about Jesus. But you don’t have to be a Jesus follower yourself to come along to any of our gatherings. Anyone’s welcome!

I grew up as a Catholic / Anglican / Baptist / *other*, can I still come to Redhill?

Absolutely.

Churches come in different shapes, sizes and styles but we’re all following the same Jesus. The people here have been involved in churches from a range of denominations. No matter what tradition you may have grown up in, we would love to have you join us as we continue to discover Jesus together.

What can I expect if I visit on a Sunday?

Click here for info on what to expect if you visit one of our Sunday gatherings.

What’s the dress code for Redhill?

We just wear ordinary, casual clothes. You don’t have to dress up – just come as you are!

Do I have to join in the singing?

No.

Singing is something that we like to do as it’s a significant way of worshipping God together. But it’s not the only way we worship God, and you don’t have to sing along if you can’t or really don’t want to. Feel free to just listen, or take the time to reflect by writing, drawing, praying…

If you want a taste of the sorts of songs we sing on Sundays, check out the Redhill Church: Songs We Sing playlist on Spotify.

What do I call the pastor?

We just call him Brent. You don’t need to call him by any kind of title.

Do you have any activities for kids or teenagers?

Kids and teenagers are very welcome at Redhill. They are not separate or secondary within our church community; they are very much part of our church community!

Youth: Once a month during Sunday gatherings our teenagers head out for their own chat/food/activities. There are also occasional social things and other events outside Sundays.

Preschool and Primary: During Sunday gatherings in school term, pre-school and primary-age kids are in with the adults for the announcements, communion and first few songs, then go out for teaching and activities appropriate for their age group.

Younger kids: Bubs and toddlers are welcome to hang out on the carpeted floor at the back of the main room (there is plenty of space to crawl!), or dad or mum can take them out to be with the bigger kids (they will require parent/carer supervision).

Do I have to bring a Bible, and where can I get one?

If you have one bring it along, as we refer to the Bible in our gatherings. You can download Bible apps on your phone, or visit Koorong bookstore at 26 Maryborough Street, Fyshwick or online

I have questions about God, Jesus and the whole shebang – who can I ask?

You can check out websites about Christianity such as christianity.net.au to get you started. If you come along to one of our gatherings, feel free to ask us there. We don’t have all the answers but we’ll try our best to help you. Alternatively, contact us.

Do you have any links with other churches or organisations?

We are affiliated with Churches of Christ NSW/ACT, which is a mainstream Christian network of churches.

We have friends and contacts in a variety of churches in Canberra, so if Redhill is not for you we would be happy to help you find another church family!
