Do you have to be a Christian to go to Redhill?
No.
Redhill is a Christian church, in that it’s run by Christians (which means “Jesus followers”) and we spend a lot of time talking about Jesus, worshipping God and praying. But you don’t have to be a Jesus follower yourself to come along. Anyone’s welcome!
.
I grew up as a Catholic/Anglican/Baptist/Orthodox/*insert other denomination here*, can I still come to Redhill?
Absolutely.
Churches come in different shapes, sizes and styles but we’re all following the same Jesus. Our team have been involved in churches from a range of denominations. No matter what tradition you may have grown up in, we would love to have you join us as we discover Jesus together.
.
What’s the dress code for Redhill?
We just wear ordinary, casual clothes. You don’t have to dress up – just come as you are (though we’d probably draw the line at mankinis).
.
Do I have to join in the singing?
No.
Singing is something that we like to do as it’s a great way of worshipping God together. But it’s not the only way we worship God, and you don’t have to sing along if you don’t want to. Feel free to just listen, or take the time to reflect by writing, drawing, or just lying back chilling out!
.
What do I call the pastor?
We just call him Brent. You don’t need to call him by any kind of title. Though to be perfectly honest he’d probably get pretty excited if you called him Spiderman.
.
Do you have any activities for kids?
Kids are welcome at our gatherings, but at the moment we don’t have any specific kids’ activities. When we move our gatherings to Sunday afternoons (probably February 2012), we will have a creche for young children.
.
Do I have to bring a Bible?
When we have times of teaching we will often refer to the Bible, so if you have one do bring it along. But it’s no problem at all if you forget or if you don’t have one.
.
Where can I get a Bible?
Most bookstores have some Bibles in their “religion” section, but for a wider range you can check out Koorong at 26 Maryborough Street, Fyshwick or at www.koorong.com.au . Ask us for advice – we’d be happy to help!
.
I have questions about God, Jesus and the whole shebang – who can I ask?
If you come along to one of our gatherings, feel free to ask us there. We don’t have all the answers but we’ll try our best to help you. Alternatively, email us at info@redhill.org.au.
.
Do you have any links with other churches or organisations?
We are affiliated with NSW Churches of Christ, which is a mainstream Christian denomination.
Our leadership team have a close working relationship with Soul Survivor NSW/ACT and are involved in a number of their activities in Canberra and beyond.
Prior to Redhill, Brent was Associate Pastor at LifeStream Christian Fellowship in Wanniassa ACT, and we still maintain a very good relationship with them. We also have good relationships with a number of churches in Canberra, so if Redhill is not for you we would be happy to help you find another church family.
